So, how do you get started?

Step 1: Pick the fish!

Picking a fish species is the most important decision you can make concerning a fishing trip to the Keys.  It helps decide the time of year you should book your trip, whether you should book a captain, what to wear, what equipment you should have, and how much you should budget for your fishing adventures. Step 2:  Should you charter a captain?


The answer to this question is simple.  Do you have the confidence, ability, knowledge and equipment to fish for the species you have selected?  Naturally, some species of fish are easier to catch than others and lend themselves to less inside knowledge and equipment.  If you look at a captain as a mentor, certainly chartering can be a more rewarding experience with knowledge that will last a life time (if you have a good memory) and prepare you to go it alone in the future.  After all, Phil Mickelson still has a coach, and he is already pretty good at golf.  Click here to see our list of captains...


Step 3:  No captain?  What’s next?
